James is Chief Investment Officer with Kanaly. He is responsible for overseeing the investment process for all personal and institutional accounts of the firm. He provides depth, talent and leadership to Kanaly’s investment team and works to implement broad, multi-asset class investment opportunities for clients. James believes in adhering to a disciplined investment strategy that effectively manages risk and produces strong long-term returns. James comes to Kanaly from AIM Investments of Houston. He joined AIM in 2002 as a senior client portfolio manager and was elevated to manager of investment services prior to leaving the firm. Now, I must admit, when I’m not in the office, riding my bike in the mountains is my favorite getaway. I love taking my bike and disappearing into the Alps or the Pyrenees. There’s nothing par for the course about playing golf in Texas. Beautiful greens, hitting long drives down the middle of the fairway and making a hole in one are my perfect escapes from the city. And you can’t beat living near a marina down in Clear Lake either. I also enjoy spending time on the water boating and taking in beautiful backyard sunsets with my black lab, Zeus, and two cats – all adopted from the local animal shelter. In addition to the animal shelter, another organization that has a special meaning to me is CROSSROADS: Community Partnership for Youth. It is a non-profit organization whose mission is to prevent or reduce youth involvement with the juvenile justice system by fostering positive mentoring relationships between youth and volunteers. When you have the opportunity in life to work for the family business, some may ask…why did you join? I’d have to say, I joined because I quickly understood and appreciated how my father built a company on trust, honesty and integrity and most importantly believed in giving back to the community. This past year, I took on the challenge of riding in the MS 150. I made the MS 150’s 300 Club as one of the top 300 fundraisers, but was most proud of being a part of the ride for the cause. The Multiple Sclerosis Society is an organization that is close to my heart and it is important to me to find ways to support its efforts.
